The Sacrament

Setting here thinking about the Sacrament and how I feel the Spirit during the administration of the Sacrament, but not always. I think I am guilty at times of the following:

Brother Tad R. Callister explained: “Some come to the banquet table each week with pitchers, ready to catch and drink every drop of eternal life that is offered. Others come with cups—and still others with yet smaller receptacles. Jedediah M. Grant observed: ‘A great many people partake of the Sacrament, and at the same time are thinking, “How many teams can I get to-morrow to haul stone? I wonder if that sister has a bonnet like mine, or if I can get one like hers? I wonder if it is going to be a good day to-morrow, or whether it will rain or snow?” . . . You can sit in this stand and read such thoughts in their faces.’ I imagine that if we could see the heavenly barometer that reads and records the secret thoughts of each person during this holy ordinance, we would have a pretty good measure of the spirituality of that person”

So at times my mind wanders and I have to bring it back to the importance of this holy ordinance. I think at times we let it become so commonplace that we lose our focus and we start thinking about the things that are waiting for us at home or at work.

An Apostle, talking about the Holy Ghost, said: “We have trouble at times recognizing the touch of the Holy Spirit. We talk about the burning in the bosom and expect it to be some great experience that knocks our socks off. More often it is a small feeling of love with in your heart.” I look forward to that feeling at the beginning of the sacrament song try to hang on to it thru the sacrament. I have begun to feel that during each hymn we sing. It’s a wonderful tiny thrill I feel in my heart.

i have struggled trying to pay attention to the prompting of the Holy Ghost and have argued with him at times to my great regret. Through out our years together mom has had a closer relationship with him than I have. If mom says I feel we need to …….I listen to her. She has been and is a great example to me of faith and dedication to gospel principles. She has never pushed me to do something, she just lead the way.

We have had a wonderful life together. The Lord brought two incomplete people together and made us whole.

Coming up is how I asked mom to marry me and how we joined the church..

  1. I love that about two incomplete people who make a whole. That’s beautiful 💗

  2. Chances are you are "living in revelation" (as Bednar said) and scarcely notice it. Your acts of service and kindness to me over the years prove that you are already following Christ and the Holy Ghost. When Hyrum was 4 he told me out of nowhere, " the Holy Ghost likes you!" It caught me off guard but when I thought of it, I knew. It was true. I share that because I know it's true of you too!
